University for Development Studies (UDS) was established in May 1992 by PNDC Law 279. It began academic work in September 1993.  Its Central Administration is located in the main hub of Northern Region. It is a multi-campus institution currently having campuses in Tamale, Navrongo and Wa. These towns are geographically located far apart.  
 The Faculties of the University are: 
1.	Faculty of Integrated Development Studies, (FIDS) – Wa
2.	Faculty of Planning and Land Management (FPLM) - Wa
3.	Faculty of Education, Law and Business Studies (FELBS) - Wa.  
4.	School of Medicine and Health Sciences (SMHS) - Tamale
5.	 Faculty of Renewable Natural Resources (FRNR) – Nyankpala 
6.	Faculty of Agriculture (FOA) - Nyankpala
7.	Faculty of Applied Sciences (FAS) -  Navrongo
8.	Faculty of Mathematical Sciences (FMS) – Navrongo

The University has a large number of academic and administrative staff across all the campuses.  The student population is close to Twenty One Thousand (21,000).  Wa campus has the largest student population.

		Job Profile
-Directing, controlling and supervising of the entire University ICT Staff
-Facilitating the implementation of the University ICT infrastructure
-Preparing all related ICT projects tender documents
-Monitoring and facilitating the use of the University video conferencing facility.
-Liaising with all service providers of the University
-Advising management on procurement of ICT Infrastructure.   
-Liaising with other technical staff to ensure that ICT infrastructure is operational
-Responsible for handling all network administration and infrastructure of the entire multi-campus University (Campuses: Navrongo, School of Medicine & Health Sciences, Wa and Nykanpla campus) 
-Managing the University’s Webmail server.
-Installing, configuring and managing of network devices-switches, hubs and Cisco routers

the University has a Local Area (LAN) and Campus Area Network (CAN) established in all the Campuses, except Tamale Campus.
Computer Laboratory of about Twenty five (25) Computers have been installed at Navrongo, Nyankpala and Wa Campus for teaching and learning. Each Campus has an independent server room for network monitoring services.

Additionally, Video Conferencing facility with the sitting capacity of twenty five (25) per site has been installed at Nyankpala and Navrongo Campuses. 
The University has a complete multi-purpose Library Complex built at Nyankpala, Tamale and Navrongo Campuses.  

The University gets its internet connectivity via VSAT and MTN fibre.
 
Its servers are running on Windows 2003 platform
